  • Secondments

Conducting secondment in the non-academic sector is a crucial training activity to learn specific up-to-date knowledge and first-hand experience of current industry working practice, as well as complementary transferable skills. DCs will learn the basis for working and communicating in industrial (writing technique reports & constructing protocols & lean management) environments. During their secondments, DCs will receive supervision and training at the premises of the receiving industrial beneficiary or associated partner. Training events to train the DCs to develop fundamental and complementary transferable knowledge, skills, and well-rounded behavior

INCEPTION will provide a unique platform for DCs to break through discipline boundaries and obtain multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, allowing them to undertake world-leading studies within this project and beyond.

This will establish an excellent foundation for them to succeed in their projects within the DN and perform well into their long-term career. Improving experience through secondments. Secondments of DCs at the industrial participants will result in enhanced knowledge, skill and experience profiles, and perspective on research, innovation & enterprising. Establishing excellent research track records. DCs will have opportunities to make scientific breakthroughs to take their respective field beyond the current state-of-the-art and empower them to be leading players in this critical field.

    Training Events

    CalendarEvent

    Training school I

    Organized by ICB-CSIC/DTU

    2 days each 6 months

Will invite experts and will include DCs presentation. Special attention will be paid to the complex reactions taking place at the many material interfaces within batteries/SC as well as to the available materials.

Different materials will be discussed to serve as electrodes and GPE. Data from operando techniques will be discussed to link to novel AI-based tools and physical models using large amounts of acquired data, with a strong emphasis on battery materials, interfaces, and “interphases”.

trategies to generate Data for battery/SC processes spanning multiple time and length scales and using a wide range of complementary approaches, including computer simulations, and characterization, in operando experiments and device-level testing will be explored.

Novel AI-based tools and physics-aware models are discussed to utilize the data to “learn” the interplay between battery/SC materials and interfaces, providing the foundation to improve future materials, interfaces, and cells.

    CalendarEvent

    Training School II

    MMU, UAVEIRO

    2 days each 6 months

Will invite external experts (online event), with DCs presentation. It will be explored the Manufacturing & Recycling of future Zinc-based battery/SC technologies from the perspective of Industry 4.0 and digitalization and in conjunction with the accelerated materials and interfaces development.

The power of modelling and of AI will be exploited to deliver digital twins both for innovative, breakthrough cell geometries, avoiding or substantially minimizing classical trial-and-error approaches, and for manufacturing methodologies.

Moreover, a strong focus will be on 3D printing, here taking advantage of MMU long expertise and facilities. Also important, eco-design criteria, including design to allow easy disassembly for the recycling of parts or materials, will be discussed at both the cell design and manufacturing levels.

    CalendarEvent

    Training school III

    TUWIEN, UAVEIRO

    2 days each 6 months

Will invite associate experts, that will include DCs presentation. DCs are exposed to the latest guidance on the SSbD framework by the EC.

Here, DCs will learn about implementing a 5-step assessment, integrating functional performance and sustainability (safety, social, environmental, and economic) aspects throughout the life cycle of materials, products, and processes, and evaluating how their interactions reflect on SSbD parameters.

It will be promoted PAR events integrating not only disciplines (innovation, safety, sustainability, circularity) but also various stakeholders (industry, policy, academia, and society) across the value chain and life cycles. Moreover, DCs will learn about techno-economic analysis and major numbers on RZAB/SC gaining an overall perspective in this sector.

Summer school on public engagement and dissemination

    UAVEIRO

    2 days

Summer school intend to train DCs in tools to engage the wider community (from professionals to the public), including social media contents, YouTube videoclips, open day events, TV interviews and newspaper articles. This make them active player in INCEPTION dissemination to provide an interactive and updated vision of modern communication techniques in the energy storage sector. It will be organized by UAVEIRO and supported by USC.
